Chittagong is lack of planning orders which gradually makes this beautiful city so much hazy, inconvenient and intolerable. On that note Cooperative Housing Society Ltd. built the Khulshi Housing area in 1983. The Planned Khulshi Housing is a milestone of road to the planning friendly Chittagong city. The present condition, the transformation of the past, the rule violation, and land use etc. features are vibrant. Every project has some problems and failures after implementation. The study area is not properly established by the master plan of 1960. Some plots were appointed for slum dwellers but these plots are now confiscated by the higher class people. Most of the plots are used as the residential purposes but there is no health and educational use in this study area. There are some negative sides. But the overall condition of the area is very good and environmentally sound. So the study area is successful as a residential area.

The population of India is rapidly increasing, and along with various developmental projects, it is contributing to the country's economy. Due to better infrastructure and job opportunities, people are moving towards urban areas, causing urban areas to experience rapid population growth. This has led to a housing shortage, and people are moving towards the fringe areas of cities to find proper shelter. The study aims to collect relevant information on housing development in the fringe area through case studies and literature reviews. The government is also encouraging housing development to meet the housing needs of society. The mission aims to deliver housing for all by 2022 and develop the city in a more planned manner, providing basic services and amenities. Housing refers to a group of houses collectively which includes other activities too like commercial, public, semi-public etc. which is needed for the smooth functioning of the neighbourhood. Housing is necessary because it determines the quality of life of the people living in the area and also the economic characteristics of the town. Rajsamand town is at a distance of only 62km from Udaipur which is a major town in Rajsamand but it still holds a major share of the economic activity. The housing pattern in Rajsamand is still native and at a place where it can be regulated to avoid organic development. The urban form is dispersed and organic in growth. This paper analyses the housing situation and the form of the town with respect to the area and the spatial pattern of the town to help minimize spotty development.

The architecture on hills always seems to be beautiful, attractive and soothing to eyes of the people, but there is a challenge for architects and structural engineers for planning, design and construction of these buildings. The planning and design of buildings in a hill settlement is a tedious and challenging task due to difficult terrain, steep gradient, adverse climatic conditions, rich flora and proneness to natural hazards. Numerous multi-storied buildings with contemporary materials and techniques are being constructed in different hill settlements without respecting the context, which affect health and wellbeing of residents and cause severe damage to sensitive fragile environment in and around hill settlements. The building regulations, which are enforced in hill settlements to regulate development and minimize its ill impacts on environment, are contextually not appropriate and lead to contextually inappropriate development and environmental degradation in environmentally sensitive hill settlements. Since vernacular practices are proven to be sustainable, therefore it is essential to take lessons from sustainable vernacular practices for new development and formulation of building regulations for achieving contextually appropriate and sustainable development in hill settlements. This paper analyses the planning, design and construction considerations of buildings in hilly regions in India. In this paper qualitative research method has been used. The systematic literature review of the construction systems of the hilly regions have been explored through internet and secondary data from relevant published academic literature from journals articles and research papers.
